ENDODONTICS
Surgical endodontic treatment is a procedure used to treat teeth that have not responded favorably to regular endodontic treatment (root canal treatment) and still present with signs and symptoms of inflammation.
Since the cause of inflammation in most cases resides in the apical part of the root (close to the tip), the aim of this procedure is to remove that part of the root together with the inflammatory tissue surrounding it (granuloma, cyst).
Following that, that a retrograde root canal filling is performed in order to eliminate any possibility of future bacterial infiltration in the root canal.
This localized surgical procedure usually lasts less than an hour and is carried out in a painless manner under local anesthesia. Typically patients only require mild analgesic medication and a few micro sutures needed are removed in a week.
